Green Elephant Personalities

We have been running the Green Elephant Backpackers continuously since 1994! Naturally over this time, we have had many people work with us, have great fun and move on. Here are the people currently working at the Green Elephant: Defa, Robin, Pat, Mavi,s Carne, Thembile, Vuyani and Patrick. Defa the dog is the star of the show, but a little lazy. He is now 12 years old and less energetic, but still loves his daily beach walks with Robin. He climbs the tree less often, and only when excited to it by Robin. Perhaps age is catching up with both of them!

My future (as Robin) will in all likelihood be in renewable energies and specifically solar water heaters.

Enjoy the benefits of staying with an operator committed to low-impact and environmental sustainability tourism. The Green Elephant implements an Environmental Management Plan that not only the staff commits to, but guests are requested to do so as well. Some key features include a solar-water heating, a grey-water system, maximum use of recyclable material, and recycling. By doing this we preserve the quality and cleanliness of the destination for our visitors to appreciate.
