Ma Neo's was started in 2002, when Thandi Peter realised that she could use her home as a destination for accommodation. The name is made up of Ma, for Mama and Neo, the name of her daugher. Thandi heard a programme on the radio about B&B's in Khayelitsha and she felt that this was precisely the right thing for her.
